WildCare Inc. Benefit at Butler Winery & Vineyard

On October 6, 2018, Butler Winery and Vineyard will host their WildCare Inc. Benefit. Enjoy live music by MOJAVE, food and wine and watch rehabilitated Screech Owls be returned to the wild by volunteers at WildCare Inc.!


The event will be from 6 - 9 P.M. at Butler Winery & Vineyard, 6200 East Robinson Road, Bloomington, IN. 


Tickets are $20 for Age 21 and over, with wine tasting included or $5 for those under 21. Event will happen rain or shine, there's plenty of sheltered seating!

Jonah Fish Fry

Come on out to Eastern Fire Department on October 13th for Jonah Fish Fry from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Adults $9.00 and kids $4.00 all proceeds made will go to the 2019 Solsberry Fireworks. There will also be an silent auction and music proviede by Doug Harrington and Fiends Southern Witness.


Project Lifesaver Fair

Lest's have fun at the Fair!!


Project Lifesaver is a Public Safety program designed to protect and locate missing person due to wandering, serving all of monroe county. This program locates an rescues people with memory loss and impaired judgment who wander from home.


Used with excellent results in many communities throughout the country to find lost individuals with Azheimer's deisease, Auism, Downs Syndrome and other cognitive impairments. Van Buren township fire department is re-introducing  project lifesaver to monroe county.


Come join them on october 13th 10:00am-2:00pm and support your community and join them for food, games and a safe why to trick or treat.

Fall Festival at PALS

This is a family friendly event for all! The Fall Festival brings the Bloomington community together to spread awareness of PALS, other for-profits and non-profits, and local vendors. There will be a program demonstrations to show what PALS is all about.


NOTE: This event is not associated with the Monroe County Fall Festival that takes place in Ellettsville, IN. This is a separate event.


Bloomington Parks and Recreation Banneker Teen Institute

This Bloomington Parks and Recreation's Banneker Teen Institute is a drop-in program for students ages 12 through 17.


The afterschool sessions include homework help, choice activities, weekly field trips, and free time guided by Banneker Community Center staff. 


Volunteers are invited to engage with teens and serve as a meaningful role models, assisting with academic tutoring during the 3:30-5pm shift - and with leading clubs or recreation time during the 5-7pm shift.


Anyone interested is encouraged to commit to the same recurring days and times each week to provide consistency for the teen participants. 


All vounteers will recieve an orientation and a background check before beginning their first shift. 


Registration for all remaining shifts - now through December 20th - will close by Friday, November 16th - so don't delay - register today. 


Safe at Home Blitz

Help seniors remain in their homes as a volunteer for the annual Safe At Home Blitz - sponsored by the Area 10 Agency on Aging on October 27th in Monroe and Owen County.


Both skilled and non-skilled volunteers are needed to make this event a success. 


Skilled volunteers will install grab bars, handrails, elevated toilet seats, gutters, and carbon monoxide detectors.


Non-skilled individuals are needed for disassembling and hauling off home and yard debris, raking leaves, and cleaning gutters.


This half day event starts with a kick off breakfast in Monroe County at Bell Trace Health and Living Center and in Owen County at the Owen Valley Health Campus. 


After breakfast - Blitz volunteers will head out to their assigned locations to make safety and accessibility retrofits in the homes of seniors.


Skilled volunteers are requested to register by Sept. 21 to better match their skills with projects needed. 


Salvation Army

Every day, The Salvation Army recieves hundreds of pounds of donated goods: clothing, furniture, electronics, art, jewelry and more. 


Your help is needed to help Salvation Army staff to recieve, sort, and hang these donated items and assist in making the store an attractive destination for customers. 


Every year, the Salvation Army saves thousands of pounds of materials from ending up in the landfill by selling what is good to the public at low prices. 


Those funds are used to support The Salvation Army's case management programs, empoyment programs, food pantry and financial assistance program - that support working families, the hungry, and the sick in our community. 


Put your sorting and merchandising skills to good use with the worthwhile opportunity to someone's trash into treasure in need in our community. 


Covered Bridge Festival Activities at Montezuma

The Covered Bridge Festival will take place October 12, 2018 through October 21, 2018 and will feature many activities including canal tours, rope making, and a community wide yard sale. There will be plenty of free parking!

LifeDesigns is a nonprofit that partners with people of all ages and abilities to lead meaningful and active lives. Their LIFE Enrichment Community Opportunities Program is a 100% community-based education program, designed to be an alternative to traditional facility-based programs. Individuals interested in volunteering to share their skills or talents, such as cooking, dancing, or jewelry making, are invited to host their own class for LifeDesigns customers once a week for at least a semester. Individuals can also encourage meaningful participation by customers in classes that are already scheduled. Especially needed are volunteers from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the YMCA to play basketball or excercise with customers. An interview, orientation and training, and background check are required.

Uplands PEAK Sanctuary in Freedom

Uplands PEAK Sanctuary in Freedom who's mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused and neglected farm animals, educate the public to the benefits of a healthy vegan lifestyle, and promote sustainability. There are many projects around the farm - and in the office - that can use volunteer help to complete. Including specialized projects like painting, building, and landscaping.

Volunteers are invited to participate in monthly workdays on the following Sundays: September 8th, October 13th, and November 10th.

The Do It Best Fall Market

The Do It Best Fall Market on Tuesday, October 16th at the Indianapollis Convention Center is a home show that donates the leftover items from booth displays an demonstrations to Habitat ReStores throughout Indiana. This allows our local Habitat ReStore an opportunity to obtain a large amount of new, donated merchandise to sell. All proceeds from merchandise sold at the ReStore goes directly to building homes in Monroe County.


To make this donation opportunity a reality - up to four volunteers are needed to carpool to Indy and help move the home show merchandise from the Convention Center floor to carts or pallets - so no heavy lifting will be required. This will be a full-day opportunity leaving Bloomington at 9:30 a.m. and returning around 7 p.m. The minimum age is 18 and volunteers able to drive carpool are welcome!
