Bloomington Out of the Darkness Community Walk

Suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined. 

 

25 million Americans suffer from depression each year.

 

The best way to prevent suicide is through early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of depression and other mental health conditions. 

 

Register for the Bloomington Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and join a quarter of a million people in more than 380 cities across all 50 states - to raise funds and awareness for one of our nation's most important causes.

Walk Location: Indiana University Memorial Stadium - Bloomington, IN
Check-in/Registration Time: 12:00 pm
Walk Begins: 2:00 pm
Walk Ends: 4:30 pm

 

Anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

Free Leadership Workshop: Five Practices for Getting Things Done in Volunteer Organizations

This free, practical, and experiential leadership workshop will be offered on Saturday Nov. 3, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Church library, 2120 N. Fee Ln., Bloomington. Learn how to make your passion come to life.

 

We will explore the five leadership practices of Kouzes and Posner that evidence shows produce results and help people work together. Dan and Sharon Wiseman will be facilitating the session. The Wisemans have more that 60 years total experience in helping people be better leaders.

Local car groups Eight Up and Bloomington Auto Club are teaming up for this year's TRUNK OR TREET to raise money for Riley Children's Hospital!

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation's Banneker Teen Institute

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation's Banneker Teen Institute is a drop-in program for students ages 12 through 17. The afterschool sessions include homework help time, choice activities, weekly field trips, and free time guided by Banneker Community Center Staff. Volunteers are invited to engage with teens and serve as meaningful role models, assisting with academic tutoring and with leading clubs or recreation time.

5th Annual "Riley" Car Show

Bloomington Sam's Club and Southern Indiana Cruisers Present the 5th Annual "Riley" Car Show in the Sam's Club Parking Lot on Saturay, October 20th from 9am to 4pm. There will be food, a trunk or treat, door prizes, music, and a costume contest. Rain date will be Sunday the 21st.
