Everybody Plays: Football Event

Calling all athletes with physical and/or intellectual disabilities! Athletes of all ages and abilities are invited to join IU Athletics' Excellence Academy and current IU student-athletes to experience the fun of sports, competition, and an active lifestyle at the "Everybody Plays: Football Event." 

Participants will be paired with IU student-athletes who can help any participant who is unable to run, kick, catch, or throw!

This event is FREE and requires no football experience! 

The event takes place Wednesday, April 24th from 7-8pm at Indiana University's Memorial Stadium. Join us and fill out the following survey by April 19th (feel free to RSVP for siblings and friends as well)!

Elementary Fun Run

Come out for a morning of fun and games! MCCSC will host a 1 mile and 5k run for students and their families on Saturday, May 4th at Grandview Elementary at 8:30am. This race serves as a culminating event for our elementary running clubs, and an opportunity for families to come together for an active event. 

 

This event will be FREE to all participants. While there is no registration fee, we do ask families to consisder giving a donation. All proceeds will be put towards the MCCSC Food Assistance Fund, which guarantees all students a hot lunch.

 

Wear you school colors to show you school pride! Medals will be given to child participants.Snacks and kids activities to follow the races.

Flower and Patio Show

Helping Others Grow will be the theme as the Greene Country Master Gardeners hosts their annual Flower and Patio Show at the Greene County Community Event Center Friday May 3rd, from 10am-4pm, and Saturday May 4th, from 9am-4pm. Presentations on Friday and Saturday, 11am both day Karen Staub "Pressed Flowers", 12pm both days Alvin Brown "Nurturing Your Tools and Sharpening Your Gardening Skills", and Friday at 1pm Tavia Pigg with "Gardening With Butterflies". Our Master Gardeners will be having a plant sale, a rummage sale with gently used garden item, and will give away free tree seedlings. There will be a wide selection of vendors with sun and shade plants and flowers, garden arts and crafts, a fun activity for kids, and food by Cabin View BBQ. Admission and parking are free.

First Church of God 11th Annual Good Friday Outdoor Way of the Cross Walk

The Greater Vincennes Ministerial Association announes the eleventh annual Good Friday Outdoor Way of the Cross Walk. Pastors and ministers from many churches in the city will participate in this unified worship experience and it will begin at noon on Friday, April 19th at the steps of the Old Cathedral. Everyone is invited to come and participate.

WildCare Inc. Benefit at Butler Winery & Vineyard

On Saturday May 18th, from 6-9p.m., come down to Butler Winery for the Wildcare Benefit. Admission is $20 for adults (21 and over) and $5 - under 21. Admission includes 6 wine samples, appetizers, hot dogs, and a Sack Meal for Kids, live music by Window Panye, multiple games, face painting and raffles. Come and relaz and enjoy the GORGEOUS Bulter Winery and Vinyard grounds AND you'll have up-close encounters with WildCare's ambassador animals. Rain or shine- plenty of sheltered seating but bring a chair just in case:)

City Church for All Nations Easter Event

City Church’s Easter event will be Sunday, April 21st during three Worship Experiences at 9:30, 11:15 and 1pm.

There will be fun activities for the kids including Easter basket giveaways for all children in elementary school, and egg hunts for children in preschool! You don’t want to miss it!

Clear Creek Trail Cleanup Earth Week Edition

Do you love using the Clear Creek Trail, or just love the enviornment in general? This Earth Week, help the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation keep this beloved Bloomington trail clean! Volunteers must register by Monday, April 15th to reserve their spot on Earth Day, April 21st. Volunteers are needed to help pick up litter. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. On-site training is provided. Minimum age is 12 and a waiver for minors is required.

Math Tutoring at Templeton

Community in Schools is a national organization that helps students find success in school and in life. They bring community resources into schools when families and children cannout access them in the community. Community in schools at Templeton Elementary is seeking individuals to work with elementary students one-on-one to master math skills and concepts. Free limited background checks will be necessary and provided by MCCSC. Shifts are avaliable: Monday through Friday from 9:15-10:30 a.m., 11:15-12:00 p.m., or 12:30-1:30 p.m. Minimum age is 18.

SCCAP Thriving Connections Guiding Coalition Member

Through the South Central Community Action Program's "Thriving Connections Initiative", volunteers act as allies to a person or family in poverty- called a Leader - acting like a good friend or extended family member. Groups consist of the Leader and two allies, Allies provide insight into a variety of life circumstances as the group works to accomplish specific goals set by the Leader. Volunteers attend a monthly group meeting, a twice-monthly Thursday community dinner and meeting, and make an 18-month commitment. Allies recieve extensive orientation, training, and support. Minimum age is 18.

Empowering the Girls 5k

Girl Scout Troop 03146 is hosting an Empowering the Girls 5k run/walk in order to raise money for a trip to Europe. Join them on May 4th at Emanual Baptist Church located at 1503 W That Rd. Events begin at 10am starting with the race, followed by the walkers, then a kids race. Visit them on facebook at empoweringthegirls5k.
