Howlin' for CASA Happening August 24th

Monroe County CASA invites you to join us for Howlin' for CASA, a very special event featuring musicians from Howl at the moon, on August 24th at Dimension Mill. Doors open at 7:30., but the dueling pianos show will begin at 8 p.m. Switchyard Brewing will provide a cash bar and food will be available from Aver's Baked! of Bloomington and Jaunnita's.


Tickets for this event are $25 each or $40 for a couple. Students tickets are $20. Tickets are available online at or by calling 812-333-CASA. (This is a 21+ event)


CASA is a volunteer-powered program, which provides representation in juvenile courts for child victims of abuse and neglect. They provide support to these children to ensure that they remain at the forefront of the court proceedings and find a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. Crew Carwash to Host Tenth Annual 'Crew for Kids' Fundraiser

As part of its Crew for Kids fundraiser, Crew will donate 50% pf all Ultimate washes, a $20 value, to Big Brothers Big Sisters. The event will take place on Saturday, August 3rd at all 32 locations. Crew will also be accepting credit and cash donations at all locations and will be open from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.  


Funds raised will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies that serve markets in which Crew has locations. The agencies to receive the proceeds from this fundraiser include: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lafayette, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana, Big Brothers of Metropolitan Chicago, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wabash Valley, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bartholomew County.


5th Annual Bloomington Boogies Event

The 5th Annual Bloomington Boogies festival is almost here! Bloomington's only blues, boogie woogie, and piano festival, this is one event you don't want to miss. On August 10th at the Monroe County History Center there will be a Master Class on Stride Piano by Judy Carmichael at 2PM. On August 12th there are free piano workshops that you could attend! At 3:15PM at Tri-North Middle School Paolo Alderighi will host, "How Does Improvisation Work." At 4PM at Templeton Elementary School Stephanie Trick will host, "Elements of Blues and Boogie Woogie." Also at 4PM over at Fairview Elementary School Dr. Keith McCutchen will be hosting, "Blues Basics, Learning from the Masters." 


Monroe Fire Protection District Event

The Monroe Fire Protection District Volunteer Auxillary will be sponsoring a FREE night at the Starlite Drive-In. The Theme is Christmas in July and the event is July 23rd, gates open at 7:45 pm and Jim Carey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas will begin at 9:45 pm. Anyone attending receives FREE admission. Non- perishable food items are accepted for the Smithville Food Pantry.
